Overview of the Role
We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our systems engineering team which is responsible for overall product functionality. This role encompasses; collection, analysis and review of product requirements, deriving of sub-system and component level requirements, systems level analysis (eg performance and reliability) and ongoing review of production design, implementation and verification.

Main Focus

• Responsible for designing, developing and documenting processes for the manufacture of print head products at a conceptual level through to manufacturing implementation.
• To advance process technologies in the area of encapsulation and flex attach thereby enabling creative and innovative product design solutions which can be up-scaled to high volume manufacturing. Resulting products must provide the cost, reliability, quality and performance required by our customers.

Main Activities/Tasks

• Develop and implement process concepts for existing and future products. Tasks include:
  ¤ Brainstorming product & process ideas across all teams.
  ¤ Work with the equipment vendors to develop equipment requirement specifications.
  ¤ Specify or select materials and verify that they meet requirement specifications.
  ¤ Establish and validate process parameters.
  ¤ Communicate within the team and company as necessary during product development.
• Produce information for various groups to take product concepts through to manufacturing realization. Tasks include:
  ¤ Materials specifications.
  ¤ Product and process requirement specifications.
  ¤ Process instructions.
  ¤ Equipment requirement specifications.
  ¤ Formulate test plans; test and analysis reports.
  ¤ Liaison with internal staff and external suppliers as required.
  ¤ Managing and achieving deadlines within projects.
• Contribute to the design, assembly and test of development rigs, models & prototypes as required.
• Lead or contribute to collaborative projects incorporating product design, process development, manufacturing automation and software control to achieve cost effective innovative solutions.
• Provide technical expertise to the company and team in areas of materials selection, precision alignment and assembly, bonding, soldering and advance the process capability to achieve the strategic aims of the company.
• Generate ideas, and act as a mentor for other engineers in respect of engineering technology and methodology.
• Evaluate existing technologies and determine paths forward to improve yields, lower costs, raise the output.
• Initiate and develop plans for projects, providing leadership and control. Monitor and respond to time lines to ensure milestones are met
• Perform other duties as may be directed by Snr Management or the Directors of the Company from time to time.

Experience and Skill

• Detailed knowledge of mechanical assembly techniques.
• Detailed knowledge of adhesives and bonding systems.
• Proven understanding of microelectronic packaging materials, their properties and applications.
• Comprehensive understanding of mechanical design engineering, cad modelling, and product design for high volume manufacture.
• Interpersonal skills and abilities to communicate and work in a team environment amongst all levels of the organisation.
• Experience in leading technical staff.
• Experience with design document control systems, having worked within an ISO 9001 environment
• Experience in developing and maintaining relationships with external contractors and suppliers.
• Exposure to high volume manufacturing and the concept of lean manufacturing.

Education

Essential:

• Detailed knowledge of mechanical assembly techniques.

Preferred:

• Detailed knowledge of adhesives and bonding systems.
