Equipment Project Manager

Overview of the Role
You will manage the procurement of equipment from manufacturing partners and ensure the timely delivery of capable solutions to subcontract assembly operations in Asia. You will ensure capital equipment project costs are kept to a minimum and actively engage with Silverbrook Research personnel, Manufacturing Partners and Equipment suppliers so that customer support is maximised and production solutions have increasing efficiency.

Main Activities

  • Incorporate sound Project Management tools to manage approved equipment supplier activities (Tracking of Issues/Tasks/Schedules/Change Management/Teleconferences etc.)
  • Produce and maintain accurate machine specifications while working with internal and external SBR teams so as to minimise changes after PO and maximise equipment “fit for use” and efficiency.
  • Apply appropriate technical and business scrutiny to vendor responses on Silverbrook Research change of scope requests.
  • Operate within project budget constraints and cost limits.
  • Delivery of buyoff materials on time for debug, testing, vendor buyoff & post Install buyoff activity.
  • Provide input for the factory design process (Footprint, Facilities requirement etc.).
  • Tagging, crating and shipping of equipment and materials working with relevant team/vendor.
  • Installation, testing and ramp up support for new equipment.
  • Facilitate identification of suitable existing and alternative equipment suppliers via RFQ process for benchmarking and capacity planning purposes.
  • Ensure non-disclosure agreements are in place with all vendors (approved and under consideration).
  • Maintain a record of vendor’s strong and weak points for feedback into vendor evaluation process.
  • Develop a strong partnership with internal and external teams and equipment suppliers via soliciting feedback on performance and managing issue resolution and equipment improvements (New and Existing capacity).
  • High Volume manufacturing experience.
  • Procurement of custom built equipment over low to high range of automation.
  • Project Management.
  • Ability to travel abroad approx 20% of time.
  • General Business: Project budgets, change management, Vendor mgt, RFQ, Proposal review.
  • Knowledge of microelectronic packaging: Die Bonding, Flex-Attach, Wire-bonding, Encapsulation, Measurement systems & Curing processes.
  • Process Experience on any of the following: Laser Ablation, Plastic parts bonding, Film Lamination, Metrology and Measurement systems.
  • Experience with Final Packaging (particularly of electronics components) including labelling / traceability systems.
  • Knowledge of clean-room operations and contamination control.
  • Previous experience with high volume manufacture especially in SE Asia.
  • Understanding and practical experience of manufacturing systems, such as: - Lean Manufacturing Principals
    - JIT
    - ISO 9000
    - ISO 14000
You will excellent Interpersonal abilities to work with the internal teams and form strong relations with partners. Have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

You should possess a Degree – B.Sc. / MSc in Mechanical, Production Engineering or related Technical discipline with appropriate experience.
