The ‘SoPEC’ ASIC provides all of the
digital electronics required
in 60 ppm single function printer.

SoPEC includes dedicated hardware which
prints most pages at full speed
from a normal desktop PC - this includes:

• Real-time JPEG and (lossless) text expansion hardware.
• Halftoning and compositing.
• Directly driving the Memjet printhead (A4 / Letter printhead has 70,400 nozzles) up to 900 million dots/sec.
• Up to 6 color channels.
• 1600 x 1600 dpi.
• Scalable print speed e.g: 1 SoPEC chip for 60 ppm, 2 SoPEC chips for 120 ppm, etc.
• Scalable print width: SoPEC chips co-ordinate printing across wide printheads.

SoPEC also includes digital electronics for a single function printer:

• 32-bit RISC CPU .
• 20Mbit DRAM.
• USB 2.0 High-speed.
• Extensive motor control and I/O

SoPEC is fabricated in 0.13 micron CMOS process and packaged in a low cost PQFP.
